Beauty: USA Ardell Lash & Brow Growth Accelerator

I'm back again with another review from Supermodel's Secrets! If you haven't already read my previous post, it's about Magic Heatless Curlers that I got from them last year. IMO, they are really friendly people who really put their heart and soul into pleasing their customers. They even sent me an angpao and card for Chinese New Year! *touched* So when I got the chance to work with them again, I happily accepted. :D

This time, I received a series of items from them for review purposes and I will be reviewing them one by one. These items range from hair to cosmetic items and I am honestly blessed and grateful to receive them. So remember to watch out for my posts!

The first item that I will be reviewing is the Ardell Lash Growth Serum

How many of you (especially girls) have problems of short and skinny eyelashes? How about your eyebrows, think they're too sparse? Fret not, cos here's a simple and effective solution for you and it comes in a tiny bottle over here.

ARDELL was started in 1971 by Arnold and Sydell Miller in USA and is the world's leading brand for faux eyelashes. Besides that, the brand also carries strip lashes and other lash-care products. Ardell Lash & Brow Growth Accelerator is a concentrated serum that works to repair weak and brittle eyelashes and restore thickness to thinning and over-plucked eyebrows. This serum contains multi-proteins to increase growth and has additional conditioners that softens dry and brittle lashes to achieve fuller, longer and thicker lashes. For more information, you can check out the official site and read some third party reviews here, here and here.

The product comes in a 0.25 fl oz (7ml) tube which contains the applicator brush and white concentrated liquid. The key ingredient is peony extract and some wheat protein which apparently is not available in any other lash growth serums. The multi-proteins it contains works immediately to repair weak lashes and restore thickness to brows and lashes. It is made of 100% natural plant extracts and lecithin which makes it suitable for ultra-sensitive eyes. Added conditioners also makes the lashes softer. The white gel has a sort of viscous consistency, which may be why it is stated on the bottle that it is a "treatment gel".

This is the applicator brush, which is just a regular mascara brush for easy application.
Tip: What I usually do is use the tip of the brush to reach the inner corners of my eyelashes too!

Directions to use:
After cleansing face, gently brush on the serum on your eyelashes and/or brows, just like how you would apply mascara. Leave it on overnight and wash off in the morning.

Don't forget to apply on your lower lashes too!

The serum is scentless and colourless when applied. It feels weightless, like you did not apply anything on your lashes and it doesn't make the lashes clump together. I tried out the product on my eyelashes for about 7-10 days and I use it every night before sleeping and every morning without fail. Have not tried it on my eyebrows yet as I think they're quite full already, but if I do try it out in the future, I'll keep you guys updated!

Results:
First of all, I have typical Asian eyelashes that are straight and just WILL NOT CURL! :( There may be various factors affecting that though.. Anyhoo, I'd like to think that my lashes are already quite thick to begin with, but they are super weak and brittle cos when I rub my eyes, 9 out of 10 times my eyelashes will definitely fall out. Every time that happens, I'll feel damn sad..

BEFORE using the product.

Excuse my veiny lids..

AFTER using the product.

Eee omg why my skin so many bumps why my eye skin so wrinkly wan.
Can you see the difference?! It's only been a week and my eyelashes are now LONGER! I SWEAR this work wonders, even if it's not obvious in pictures. One noticeable difference is the lash serum has made my eyelashes STRONGER. It hardly falls out if I rub my eyes or tug the lashes gently now. As for thickness, I don't see much difference but I'm pretty sure with continued use, it will definitely yield more obvious results. My lashes also feel softer, after I wash the product off, of course. Fret not, your lashes won't feel super hard like after applying mascara.

The side view. Even my lower lashes are longer and thicker now!

Thoughts:
OMG I can't believe the product actually works! Usually I am quite skeptical about products like these but the Ardell Lash Growth Serum has proved me wrong! And I can't believe how EASY it is to use. When you apply it, the serum leaves your lashes a bit hard and dry. But not to worry, it will go back to normal after you wash the product off. Actually I've tried applying mascara on top of the serum before and it still works perfectly fine.
Please remember to be careful not to poke your eyes when you apply the product ok, don't be like me. I accidentally poked my eye with the applicator and my eye swelled. -_- Not so good for sensitive eyes, I guess. But just be careful and don't rub your eyes when the product is still wet on your lashes..

For better results, use it for 2-8 weeks. Of course, results vary with individuals and what works for me, might not work for you. I've only tried it out for about a week and I'm loving it already, wonder how my lashes will be like after 8 weeks ~.~ Will it look like I applied mascara all the time? Hehe I'll keep you guys posted on my Twitter ok~  I love that it's so easy to use and the results is so good; it has become an indispensable part of my nightly routine now.

Travel: Seeties Getaway Treat Campaign!

Wanna win a free stay at your favourite villa? :D

image from seeties.me

I was recently invited to become a Seetizen Expert for Seeties.me. What is Seeties?

Seeties is a new concept website which combines local know-how, passion to share, social media, mobile platform and location based service, all in one place. Seeties aims to connect local Experts with users who seek meaningful information spontaneously or when planning trips. As a Seetizen expert, I can make Recommendations for various categories like fashion and beauty, food & drinks or outdoor & attractions, etc. Sounds so cool! Another reason to sign up is because of this Getaway Treat Campaign that is being held whereby 10 lucky winners and 1 lucky draw winner will win a stay at a villa of their choice! Woohoo hope I win..!

After signing up, I found that Seeties is really quite fun to use! It's kind of like micro-blogging as there is a 300-1000 character limit and you get to upload pics and share you experience with other Seetizens. Omg just realised it means CITIZENS. XD

Here are some of my recommendations in the Outdoor & Attractions category..

How can I miss the chance to promote my beautiful hometown eh? Introducing to you... One of my fave places to hang out in JB! Just Want Coffee - The Garden is extremely popular among Johoreans as they have a few branches. However, I particularly love this branch cos of its beautiful deco.. Perfect place for OOTD! I've done a few 'photoshoots' here and here if you'd like to read. :p

Another pretty place that I've been to is i-City at Shah Alam! It was quite a spontaneous trip planned with my friends to go there and take pics before I left for JB for my three-months summer break. It was so pretty, I wish we had taken more photos! There's also a fun-fair, 3D museum, wax museum and other attractions to make it more fun. Kinda like.. a night time themepark.

Speaking of pretty places, I really love scouting for beautiful locations! One thing is because I love to take OOTD shots at these places, hehe. But I can't say I'm a well-travelled person, because I haven't been to that many countries in my life. The bf has always promised to bring me on a staycation to some island some day, but with our limited allowance and busy school lives, I wonder when that day will come....

Which is why I really hope to win a stay at one of these villas! It'll be so cool, and my whole huge family can come along and vacation too! The last time we had a family trip was way back in 2009 in Hong Kong. I was what, 16 then? 0.0 Yeap, definitely time for another family trip!

Here's a sneak peak of some of the villas that are in the list. So beautiful, aren't they?

At first glance I thought these venues were overseas. Turns out they're all private villas located in our very own country! Oh my, what wouldn't I give to be able to explore each and every one of these places :) My fave is The Stable Malacca and The Happy 8 Retreat, Pasir Puteh! Hmm.. Actually, Berembun House, The Dusun and Deluxe, The Majestic Hotel looks super pretty too! Argh can't make up my mind when I see pretty things/ places 0.0

image from thestablemalacca

Freaking falling in love with this rustic room. It's such a private and comfy place, I love the atmosphere! Perfect place to rest & relax.

image from thehappy8

Omg is that an open air bedroom?! Always wanted to stay in one! Er, might have mosquitoes but it'll be so private and cooling lor! Perfect getaway :D

Seriously never knew such pretty places existed in Malaysia. Remember to join in the campaign from now till 30th April 2014 if you're interested in winning free stay at your fave villa!

Whoever said you have to travel abroad to far places to experience nature in its own beauty? Follow me on Seeties at http://seeties.me/carerynn to learn more of my Recommendations, especially as I try my best to bring out the best in my hometown. :)

Shopping: Haul from Malaysia Clothes Buffet 2014 :)

Wheee~ If you read my previous post on the Malaysia Clothes Buffet HERE, you'll know how much fun I had and how happy I was shopping yesterday! As promised, I will do a HAUL post on what I got at the sale and bazaar, so here you go!!

Dududu. My loots. Can you believe I got all these for less than RM100?!

Finally got my white bedsheets! They were on sale for RM28 only at the Aussino Sale! Only reason why I picked this out of the other plain coloured ones is because of the threadcount and the pretty ribbon lolol.

Got these beauty boxes from the FH Club booth at the Fashion Bazaar for RM10 each ONLY! Ended up buying one for Eunice too. The accessories alone are worth more than RM10 already. This box has two masks, two samples and two accessories which you can pick out by yourself!

Floral crown for Eunice from Jeda Jinx Jeweleries at the emceecouture booth. This was RM25 and they had a lot of other pretty patterns too!

My fave buy from yesterday! These are preloved velvet heels which I got from one of the vendors selling preloved items. I don't mind that they were preloved cos a) they were in my size (!) and b) she claimed that they were worn once only.. I even asked her to join Carousell LOL hardcore selling max.

I asked everyone how much they think these were and they said RM30-ish? But noooo..... They were RM6 but she sold it to me for 5 BUCKS ONLY!!! I'd be dumb to give it a miss. :o Only defect was the slighly torn velvet layer at the bottom, but I'm sure I can glue it back and it'd be good as new.

K I know everyone's curious what's in the bags.... One was my haul from the Clothes Buffet and the other was what I bought from the surprise Blowout Sale. I know it wasn't effieicnt to pack it that way but I was really shaking already after my bag broke so I didn't risk stuffing anymore clothes in. Next time must practice before going dy hmph :(

Anyway, I got 4 dresses, one maxi dress and a cropped tee from the buffet! Wish I hadn't thrown that three dresses and one shorts back into the bin though :( I also got a thick cardigan and another maxi dress from the BOS for RM10 per piece, cos I didn't think it'd fit in the bag so faster buy it first lol. Whoever heard of a maxi dress and cardi for 10 bucks only!

Yes, I stuffed a maxi dress in! Always wanted to get a plain one. Didn't think it'd fit cos it looked so big but I was so happy that the dress looks good with a belt on! The gathers and slit at the side made it look less plain and I can accessorise any way I want with it to dress it up or down. Kinda obsessed with maxi and midi skirts/ dresses lately, I think imma get more...

Cropped 99 tee for casual wear. It's a bit loose so I might give it to my sister, or wear it at home lol.

Fave dress from the haul! It's perfect for a casual outing or formal wear. Paired it with my necklace from the beauty box and the heels! Love them cos they're sooo comfy.

Earrings from the beauty box as well and they suit this dress so well.

Plain white dress (I added the beaded necklace) for casual or formal wear too! The blue heels seriously goes so well with anything lah. Love its versatality!

What a unique piece! The lace details makes this houndstooth dress less boring. However, it's also a bit loose for me :( I think it kinda shrunk in the wash today though..

Another monochrome formal dress. I think the belt makes it look less boring. Too bad the dress was kinda loose too, otherwise it'll look great. Ok lah cos I'm small-sized T.T My housemate said the puffed sleeves makes me look less skinny hahaha.

First piece I got from the BOS was this knitted cardigan. I love how easy it is to mix and match! Now I have another cardi to wear to class! The material is so thick and good, can you believe it's only RM10???

Flowy maxi dress. Not my usual look cos I look EXTRA girly in it, but it's comfy and fits me well so, ok! Can wear it for date nights lol. Paired it with Eunice's floral crown for fun. :p

So yeah. Those were my hauls from the event yesterday and I am so pleased with all my buys! Most of the pieces are plain and easy to match with. I got more formal wear, which is good because I'll be graduating and I need more work clothes soon.. MOST of the clothes fit me well cos I think they were XS or S but some were too loose so I might give them to my sis. Andddd all of it are brand new and of really good quality! I was so pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to do more OOTD posts with my buys! :*

Hope you enjoyed this post. Lemme know what did you get from the Clothes Buffet this weekend? I would love to know! :)

Love,
Carinn

Event: Malaysia Clothes Buffet 2014 x Blowout Sale x Aussino Sale x Fashion Bazaar!!

All those years of shopping... All the times you ran around in malls and shopped for hours without even flinching at your painful feet... All that training, has boiled down to this.......

OMG I'M SO DRAMATIC.

I just came back from the biggest, most creative event cray cray shopaholic's like me today! It's Day Two of the Malaysia Clothes Buffet 2014 and I thought it would be a good idea to share with you what to expect before you go, and what will you expect to see there. Not only that, the Aussino Sale was also held at the same time and a fashion bazaar was on as well! It was SO fun!

I hardly ever attend events in KL but I knew that this one was not to be missed. Thankfully, I had a teman and this time, it was Kim. She came to KL ytd and stayed overnight at my place, then we went together by cab this morning. When we arrived, it was about 11.45am and we went and met Isabel at the counter to collect our ziplock bags. Isabel asked if we can wait for another hour because there was a surprise Blowout Sale from 12-1pm! Whuuuut. So we decided to grab our Aussino goodies first at their clearance sale before going for the Blowout Sale.

UPDATE: You can read about my 15-mins hauls from the Clothes Buffet and other buys from the Fashion Bazaar HERE.

Ahem.. OOTD first :p Casual boyish style today!
Singlet from Kitschen // Shorts from Cotton On  // Boots from Happy2u.cc  // Kate Spade bag // Accessories from Cotton On, Forever 21, Lovisa and H&M

Lemme give you a tip first. The whole event is held at an open area at Syopz Mall, Taylor's University Lakeside Campus. There is NO air con provided, but there's lots of fan. Also, it's shaded, and so is the bazaar area. It's important to DRESS COMFORTABLY because you don't want your clothes getting in your way when you're rushing around, grabbing clothes! Also, it's really hot especially in the afternoon -_- Which is why I chose this casual outfit and made it less boyish with the ribbon necklace. Just got it ytd from F21 for RM10 cos there was a Weekend Special buy 2 free 1 sale! Plus, I super love the comfy RM30 shorts which I got from Cotton On when it was on sale! <3 The boots look heavy, but they're not. Super comfy and adds some height hehe I so love it, and it's for RM40 only.

Anyhoo, I digress.

******Aussino Clearance Sale*****

Let's talk about the Aussino Sale first. I bet there were a lot of nicer stuff on the first day, because today it seems to have decreased a lot :( That's cos they're all of good quality and going for super cheap! Luckily for me, I only wanted plain white sheets which they still have.

The price list in case you were wondering. For most of the items I think you gotta refer to this or ask the staff to get the discounted price.

Bedsheets...

MORE bedsheets....

Duvets. I wanted a pure white one but this didn't come with a duvet cover! :(

Cushion, bolster and pillow cases.

Bath gloves and kids' bathrobes.

Sadly, there were not much stock left already. Hope they'll restock more tomorrow for the sake of the last day sale-goers!

*****The Blowout Sale*****

I was told that they decided to have a surprise Blowout Sale for girls who went for the early session and had to stay back till 4pm for the afternoon Blowout Sale sesh, and they didn't want them to wait that long. So considerate of the organisers!

Basically, this is how the sale area looks like.

There were 8 bins (or treasure chests) altogether. Hmm, not as big as I'd expected... Or so I thought.

Sneak peak of the clothes that you can expect to find at the sale! I spotted a few that I want already omg!

Emcee and DJ playing all kinds of songs from old school to Korean to Malay to Cantonese to English songs. Hahahaha.

All the girls were going crazy, grabbing whatever they could find because everything was going for RM10 ONLY! Tank tops and singlets were also going for 2 for RM10!

Oops, crazy shopper caught in actioin.. XD

I guess it was kind of an advantage for us to have our buffet session at 1pm cos I got to survey a few pieces that I like before the actual buffet started :p I even bought a few pieces that I REALLY liked first because I was afraid that it'll be gone later or that I can't stuff it into the bag. Hahaha. Don't worry, there's no time limit or bag stuffing problems for the Blowout Sale and you can take your own sweet time choosing the items you want.

*****Clothes Buffet*****

Finally, it was almost 1pm and our turn to go for the REAL Clothes Buffet. I've never felt so anxious and nervous for shopping omg. It's like there's this adrenaline rush and panic that what if my bag burst. Please note that bags are not allowed in the buffet area and if your bag bursts, you'll have to pay a penalty of RM20 and continue shopping with whatever time there's left.

Staff restocking and remixing all the clothes in the bin. Smart move there. So that for every session, there won't be too many similar pieces and more fresh variety!

I managed to snap a pic of the session after mine to show you the chaos. Have to queue in a line first before entering the buffet area. Kancheong kancheong.

Pretty sure there were more people on the first day but look at everyone going crazy grabbing the good stuff! Quite fun to watch LOL.

Met Miss Low Hui Yi at the sale! Sampat even had time to stop and pose for the camera XD

Oh, did I mention that there's even a huge TV there to show you the time? Not sure if it's helpful or scary, watching the clock counting down! :s

Funny story here. I happily grabbed my clothes and even saw a few nice ones which I passed to Kim. Lol I'm so kind right :p TBH, there weren't as many nice ones as I thought, but they're really good material and versatile pieces which can be worn as casual or formal wear. So that kinda made my decision-making easier cos most of the things I grabbed were dresses. Also, a lot of the clothes are in S-M sizes, lucky me! I even used the reflection of the glass door of the shops at the side to see if the clothes fit me XD

Then I realised that I only have 4 mins left on the clock.Decided that it was a good time to pack my clothes into the bag already (I think I got about 10 pieces?) so I went to a corner and started ROLLING my clothes up and stuffing them into the bag. BIG mistake. The bag wasn't long enough horizontally to fit the clothes. Panicking, I tried folding two together but it only made the bag fatter -_- Then my worst fear happened..  THE BAG BURST AT THE SIDES.

Omg NOOOOO! T.T Almost cried cos I was so bent on trying to beat the record (ytd was 14 pieces) and there was only about 43 seconds left on the clock. I panicked and asked Isabel if I can have another bag and she said go to the back exit counter. The girl there asked for RM20 from me but of course I didn't have my wallet with me. So keep some spare cash on you IN CASE ok. XD She said that I can leave my clothes at the counter and go grab my wallet, which I did. After everyone left, I tried packing my clothes again but this time, I'm SLIGHTLY calmer. The guys kept trying to scare me by making POP sounds and the girls gave advice on how to keep the clothes! LOL! So cute right. My hands were shaking lah seriously. In the end, I only managed to stuff 6 items into the bag cos the fear of it bursting again really made me paranoid. I even had to throw a few of the pieces back into the bin which I regret now :(
BUT OMG. IT WAS SOOO FUN. I wanna do it again!!!

The Top List. Think you have what it takes to beat them? Today's record was 20 pieces during the game session which you can join for free! :o I realised most of the record-breakers are guys.... My tip is to take small items like tank tops and chiffon tops if you wanna stuff more into the bag. You can choose your clothes first and stuff them in the bag in like the last 5 minutes? Don't roll your clothes together, don't make them too bulky and hold the sides, and bottom to avoid your bag from bursting! Make sure you cut your nails beforehand in case it tears the bag! And try to zip it GENTLY when you're done packing . :)

**********

Didn't expect to see you there! <3

Thank you, my dear Tyypey for borrowing me your powerbank and shopping with me! Hehe. Love you babe :*

Teman of the day, Kim!

Met pretty Chanwon again. She still remembers me from Instagram XD So sweet lah.
